Birth Companion is built on a local-first foundation. Your contraction data and birth reflections belong exclusively to you.

Your personal health and labor records stay on your device We do not sell, rent, or monetize your pregnancy or labor data. Birth Companion does not require registration, login, or personal profile creation.

1. About this policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Birth Companion AI (“we,” “our,” or “us”) treats information when you use our iOS mobile application, Apple Watch companion app, and related web pages. We believe your pregnancy and labor experience is deeply intimate, and we design our software to collect the minimum data necessary to provide a soothing, functional experience.

2. Local-first data architecture

The core information you generate in Birth Companion is stored locally on your Apple device using Apple’s secure SwiftData framework:

  • Contraction (Wave) logs: Start timestamps, end timestamps, durations, and time elapsed between waves.
  • Sensation & intensity ratings: Personal reflections on whether sensations felt light, medium, or strong, or notes on pressure points.
  • Personal notes: Any text notes you attach to an individual contraction entry.
  • App settings & preferences: Selected appearance (Light, Dark, System), calm sound preferences, volume levels, and haptic feedback toggles.

This data does not automatically sync to our servers and remains within your private device sandbox.

3. No account or email registration

Birth Companion does not require you to create an account, register an email address, provide your full name, or sign in with social media. You can open and use the application completely anonymously.

4. AI Companion & Voice interactions

Birth Companion provides optional conversational comfort, guided breathing, and positive birth affirmations through an AI companion.

  • Ephemeral processing: Prompts sent to the AI companion are processed in real-time solely to generate immediate soothing responses and breathing guidance.
  • No health profiling: We do not retain, catalogue, or use your chat prompts to build advertising profiles or permanent medical dossiers.
  • Microphone use: If you use voice interaction features, microphone access is requested strictly while the companion session is active. Audio recordings are never stored permanently by us.

5. Apple Watch & Live Activities

If you pair Birth Companion with an Apple Watch or use Lock Screen Live Activities, your contraction timing state is shared securely across your own devices using Apple's native WatchConnectivity and ActivityKit frameworks. This data communication occurs locally within your personal Apple device environment.

6. In-App purchases & third-party service providers

We rely on trusted industry infrastructure to deliver specific app capabilities:

  • Apple In-App Purchases (StoreKit): Apple processes all payments, renewals, and refunds. We receive only an anonymous transaction receipt indicating active subscription entitlement status. We never receive or store your credit card or bank details.
  • RevenueCat: We utilize RevenueCat to validate anonymous App Store receipts and manage feature entitlements across subscription tiers. RevenueCat processes an anonymous app user identifier and receipt tokens without personal identifiers.
Zero Advertising: Birth Companion contains no third-party banner ads, no tracking cookies, and no ad-network SDKs. We do not sell or share data with data brokers.

7. Data export & your choices

You have full sovereignty over your labor records:

  • Exporting records: You can generate a PDF summary or CSV export in the app at any time to share directly with your midwife, obstetrician, or partner.
  • Clearing records: In Settings → Privacy & Legal → Clear Personal Log, you can permanently wipe all recorded contractions and notes with one tap.
  • Permissions: You can grant or revoke Microphone, Notification, and Health permissions at any time in the iOS Settings app under Settings → Birth Companion.

8. Medical disclaimer

Birth Companion is not a medical device. It is designed solely for relaxation, informational support, and convenience timing. Nothing in the app or this policy creates a doctor-patient relationship. For any questions regarding the progression of your labor or your physical well-being, always contact your qualified healthcare provider.

Section 9

9. Children’s privacy

Birth Companion is intended for expectant mothers and their adult birth partners. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 where required by local law).

10. Updates & Contact
