Comfort & emotional support only โข Not medical advice
Birth Companion is an informational and relaxation tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide clinical diagnosis, monitoring, or medical advice. If you feel unsafe, experience severe pain, heavy bleeding, fluid leakage, decreased fetal movement, or have medical concerns, contact your doctor, midwife, or emergency services immediately. Use 112, 911, or the local emergency number for your location.
Frequently Asked Questions
โฑ๏ธ
How do I time contractions?
Open the Timer tab and tap anywhere on the large circular wave indicator when a contraction starts. Tap again when it subsides. The app automatically calculates duration, interval since the previous wave, and allows you to rate intensity.
๐
Where is my wave log stored?
Your contraction sessions are stored locally on your iPhone, with timing records transferred to your paired Apple Watch. Device backups depend on your Apple settings. No account or email registration is required, protecting your intimate maternal data.
๐
How can I share my log with my midwife?
In the Log tab, tap Share PDF. You can generate a PDF report to share via AirDrop, Messages, or email directly with your midwife or care team.
๐๏ธ
How do I open breathing guidance?
Tap Breathing at the top of the Timer screen for visual breathing guidance. AI chat and voice support are not available in this version.
๐
Can I add a note after a contraction?
After stopping the timer, choose an intensity and tap Done. Expand Add details (optional) to add a note. You can also edit the entry later in the journal.
โ
Does it work with Apple Watch & Live Activities?
Yes. You can start and stop wave timing directly from your Apple Watch companion app, or glance at your current contraction timer on the iPhone Lock Screen via Live Activities without bright screen disruption.
Free Contractions & Premium Experience
Your first 10 completed contractions include all features available in this version, without starting a subscription or automatic billing. After the tenth recording, a subscription is required for new timing sessions and other gated features on iPhone and Apple Watch. Your journal, editing, individual deletion, and PDF export remain available without a subscription. Deleting entries does not reset the free-recording counter.
Restoring Purchases: If you reinstall the app or change iOS devices, tap Restore on the subscription screen while signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. An active subscription should restore access; an expired subscription will not. An internet connection is required.
Manage or cancel your subscription
All Birth Companion subscriptions are processed and managed securely by Apple through your Apple ID account.
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
Tap your Name / Apple ID profile at the very top.
Tap Subscriptions.
Select Birth Companion to review your plan, switch tiers, or cancel auto-renewal.
Deleting the Birth Companion app from your device does not automatically cancel an active App Store subscription.
Refund requests & billing inquiries
Because all transactions are processed through the Apple App Store, developers cannot issue direct refunds. Apple handles all billing disputes, chargebacks, and refund requests directly.
To request a refund, please visit Apple's official portal at reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find your Birth Companion purchase, and choose "Request a refund."
Clearing personal data
Open a record in the Log tab to edit or delete it, including after the free-recording limit. When settings are accessible, the gear button on the Timer screen also offers Clear Personal Log. Deletion affects local journal data, not the free-recording counter, exported PDFs, device backups, or copies on other devices.
